Angelo Alcabas developed a promotional campaign for the Chidren's Trauma Center at Johns Hopkins.
The project was centered in the idea that East Baltimore students truancy levels spiked incrementally in the transition to high school. The argument would follow if students are not in school then they are in the community, and if they are out on the streets then they are susceptible to gangs, crime and physical injury. Steppin' Up is a mentoring program that connects students, parents and teachers with Hopkins students in after-school positive reinforcement activities. We created a series of educational activities and games that centered around raising self-esteem, positive reinforcement, role playing and verbally communicating frustration to avoid conflict.
